Magnetic Matches

Effect: You show the spectators a box of magnetic matches. You hold the box upside down, and all of the matches stay in place. But with a simple command the matches fall to the table.
Supplies: Box Of Matches Instructions: 1. Take a box of wooden matchsticks, shorten one matchstick to the width of the matchbox and press it into place ACROSS the other match sticks at the half-way point in the box. It should be tight enough to hold the other matches in place and still allow you to open and close the matchbox. Close up the matchbox, it is now prepared for the trick. 2. Open the box about 1/4 of the way and show the spectator the matches. Shake them around a little to show their loose. Close the matchbox and wave your hand over the box saying you have magnetized the matches. 3. Turn the matchbox upside down, and completely open the box. The matches will be held in place by the sideways match. 4. Say you will now de-magnetize the matches. Say a magic word and lightly squeeze the sides of the box. the sideways match will come loose and the matches will fall. No one will notice the slightly shortened match. |
